Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Repair
We recently completed a full service and restoration on an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m bicolour quartz watch. This model features the classic Seamaster proportions, finished in a combination of gold and stainless steel. This watch uses the Omega 1538 quartz movement and has been prepared for our pre-owned collection.
Servicing the Omega 1538 Movement
High-quality quartz movements like the 1538 are very reliable, but they still need regular maintenance. Over time, the oils that keep the gear train moving freely can dry out. When this happens, the movement has to work harder to move the hands, which eventually leads to poor timekeeping and shorter battery life.
Our watchmakers completely stripped the movement down to ensure every part was clean and free of old residue. After cleaning, the movement was reassembled and lubricated using the correct lubricants. We also fitted a new battery and checked the power consumption to ensure the electronics are in perfect working order.
Refining the Case and Bracelet
The look of this bicolour model comes from the contrast between the polished gold and the brushed stainless steel. After years of wear, these surfaces inevitably become dull and scratched.
To restore the finish, we completely disassembled the case and bracelet. This allows us to work on each link and 
For the stainless steel sections, we applied a fresh grained finish. This is a precise process that involves using specific abrasive wheels to create the sharp, satin look that defines the Seamaster’s appearance. By treating the gold and steel parts separately, we ensure the edges stay crisp and the two different finishes remain distinct.
Water Resistance Testing
Protecting the movement from everyday moisture and dust is essential. Once the watch was reassembled, we tested the case for water resistance using our Sigma pressure testing machine. This diagnostic system allows us to verify the integrity of the watch under vacuum and pressure conditions without risking any moisture entry.
The watch has now passed all our quality control checks. It looks and runs exactly as it should and will be available to purchase through our pre-owned section very soon.
